ATS Online B.Th and M.B.S Programs
Asia Theological Seminary (ATS) offers Online Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) and Master of Biblical Studies (M.B.S.) programs especially designed for pastors, church leaders, ministry workers, and others who are actively engaged in Christian ministry and who are unable to relocate from their families, churches, and ministry contexts for an extended period of residential study.
ATS recognizes the important responsibilities carried by those serving in Christian ministry. Many pastors and church leaders are deeply committed not only to their ministry but also to the care and spiritual well-being of their families and local congregations. For such leaders, leaving their families and churches for several years in order to pursue theological education may create significant practical and ministry challenges. Extended absence can make it difficult to maintain regular family responsibilities, pastoral relationships, and active involvement in the local church.
For this reason, ATS has adopted online delivery for the B.Th. and M.B.S. programs, providing an accessible and academically structured pathway for theological education without requiring students to withdraw from their families and ministry contexts. Through online learning, students can pursue systematic biblical and theological studies while continuing to serve faithfully in their churches and fulfill their responsibilities at home.
The purpose of these programs is not simply to offer a convenient alternative to residential education. Rather, ATS seeks to provide theological education that is accessible, academically sound, ministry-oriented, and responsive to the realities of those already serving the Church. The online format allows students to bring their learning directly into their ministry contexts, where biblical and theological knowledge can be applied in preaching, teaching, discipleship, pastoral care, evangelism, leadership, and other areas of Christian service.
ATS therefore seeks to maintain an appropriate balance between theological education, family responsibilities, and ministry commitment. Students are encouraged to continue participating actively in their local churches and to remain responsible to their families while progressing toward their academic goals.
Distinction of the M.Th. Program
The Master of Theology (M.Th.) program is offered through physical classes because it is an advanced and specialized theological program with academic requirements that differ from those of the B.Th. and M.B.S. programs.
The M.Th. curriculum includes the intensive study of biblical languages, advanced theological disciplines, and specialized areas of theological research. These areas benefit from direct classroom instruction, sustained academic interaction, faculty guidance, discussion, and close engagement between students and professors. Physical classes therefore provide an appropriate academic environment for the depth and specialization expected at the M.Th. level.
Accordingly, ATS has adopted different modes of delivery according to the nature, purpose, and academic requirements of each program. The B.Th. and M.B.S. programs are offered online to make theological education accessible to those actively serving in ministry, while the M.Th. program is conducted through physical classes to provide the intensive academic and specialized training required for advanced theological study.
Through these programs, ATS seeks to equip men and women for faithful and effective Christian service by providing biblical knowledge, theological understanding, academic formation, and practical ministry preparation. ATS remains committed to theological education that strengthens both the individual servant of Christ and the Church in which that servant ministers.
